Obituary

On Saturday, May 23rd, our sweet Zulema passed away after a hard fought battle against cancer. She was born in Corpus Christi TX where she lived a happy childhood surrounded by her loving family. In the Fall of 1993, she moved to Austin TX to attend the University of Texas, majoring in Studio Art.
Zulema was an artist as well as a talented musician. She played bass in a few local bands including Figure Four, Burn Lake, German Beef Initiative, and Fires In Roam. Zulema was the kindest, most generous person. She was a loyal friend, achingly funny, fiercely competitive, curious, quirky, meticulous, humble, and most of all, a beautiful soul. She loved music, dancing, baking, was a fantastic DJ, a killer karaoke artist, and a backyard champion of ping pong and badminton. She loved her family and friends passionately. She adored her nephews, niece, and grand nieces and nephews who also adored her. She loved all animals, especially her cats Jasper and Shingo.
She is an inspiration to many who have been lucky enough to know her because she lived life to the fullest, laughed hard, and loved deeply. She is already dearly missed by all. She is a beautiful light that will never go out.
Zulema is survived by her parents; Mauro J. and Arabella Quintanilla, two sisters; Jo Ann Quintanilla (Brad Milwee) of Austin, Texas and Liza Pratt of Corpus Christi, Texas, one brother, Mauro Quintanilla, seven nieces and nephews, two great nieces, 2 great nephews, special friend; Darin Girndt, her two cats, Jasper and Shingo, one dog, Ramona and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.
