She Lived Her Life Between the Dash (-)

Venita Dawkins Smith passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after an unexpected illness. She was one of six children born in Longview, Texas to Buddy and Venita Dawkins and later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.

She received Christ at an early age and joined St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member of the choir and taught Vacation Bible School. Venita later moved her membership to Bridge of Life Church where she attended faithfully until her passing.

Venita Dawkins Smith worked for HEB for 32 years. She loved her job and always had a smile on her face and very helpful to the customers and friends that graced the building on Leopard Street. She was affectionately known as "Ms. H.E. B" by many who knew her.

Venita was preceded in death by her parents, Buddy and Venita Dawkins, brothers Huey and Oscar Joseph and Archie Dawkins and sister Mary Dawkins Lynch.

She leaves to cherish her memories: A loving daughter Venita Harrison, granddaughter Ronnita Harrison, grandson Vernon Brown, a sister Dorothy Dawkins, Carson, CA. and a host of relatives and friends.
