Obituary

Tommie Lee Douglas Jr., affectionately known as "TT" or simply "Junior," departed from this world on May 31, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. At just 47 years old, Tommie was a beacon of love, generosity, and joy in the lives he touched, leaving behind a legacy defined by his warm smile and magnetic charisma.

Tommie was born on October 8, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Emma Ruth Smith Douglas and Tommie Douglas Sr. A bright and joyful child, Tommie possessed an infectious charisma from youth, instantly becoming the heart of any gathering. He also cherished his close bond with his maternal grandparents, Mr. Van and Elizabeth Smith, who instilled in him the values of compassion, respect, and generosity.

Tommie gave his life to the Lord at an early age. His love for the Lord was undeniable and profound. He was raised with an innate sense of kindness and a loving soul. Tommie grew into a man whose authentic spirit was evident to all who met him. He was known for his infectious dance moves and the way he could effortlessly become the life of the party, spreading cheer and laughter wherever he went. A man of many passions, Tommie's enthusiasm for sports was unparalleled, and he brought his competitive spirit into everything he did. Beyond sports, his dedication and passion also manifested in his career as a barber, a craft he perfected and loved. Through the skilled use of clippers and scissors, he could spend hours carefully transforming each client, giving them confidence with style, laughter, and stories—bridging relationships and uplifting hearts beyond his barber chair.

Tommie was a loving father to his three beautiful children and left an indelible mark supporting them with unconditional love and understanding. He was also a nurturing grandfather and took great pride in being called "Papa" and creating unforgettable memories with his five grandchildren who adored him. He was a very proud father and grandfather and wouldn't hesitate to tell any and everybody about his babies and the love shared.

His presence will be deeply missed, and the countless joyful memories he created with family and friends will remain cherished forever.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Emma Ruth Smith Douglas, grandfather Van "Big Daddy" Smith Sr., and his son, Tommie Douglas III. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion with his surviving family members, including his father, Tommie Douglas Sr.; grandmother Elizabeth Smith; brother Fabian Douglas; daughter Orianna; son Jordan; cherished grandchildren; numerous loved ones; and friends.
