Sheila Marie Stokes Starkey was born in Kenner, Louisiana on October 21st, 1961 to Melvin and Sylvia Stokes. Three siblings, Brenda Jean Ferrell, Melvin Charles Stokes Jr. & Linda Faye Stokes, survive her. Her sister, April Marie Stokes and both parents precede her in death.
She married Kennith Lee Starkey I on June 5th, 1982. While traveling with her husband in the military she worked in the school, where she was a teachers assistant. She was also a teacher at KinderCare Learning Center here in Corpus Christi, TX.She was committed to spending time with family and friends and was loved by many. Her home was always open to those in need and was always willing to give a helping hand when needed.
Sheila entered into eternal rest on January 13th, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory: a husband Kennith I; three children, Takara, Leslie & Kennith II; three grandchildren, Destiny, Daeshon & Jazmine; three siblings, Brenda, Melvin Jr. & Linda and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24,2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Baptist Church followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Derrick Reaves officiating. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
