Sharon L. Floyd Davis answered the Master's Call on Thursday January 28, 2016 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on October 25, 1949 to the late Walter and Bernice Floyd. She was the first born of seven children.
She was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Dr. Harold T. Branch, where she continued to work and serve faithfully over sixty years. She served on the Usher Board, Children's Ministry, children's production programs, and was the co -director of the Mime Ministry called "Angelic Joy".
Sharon graduated from Mary Carroll High school Class of 1966. She later married Jesse Joe Bibbs, Jr. in June 1967. Two daughter's were born to this union, Tamela and Tanya Bibbs.
Sharon as employed with the Corpus Christi Independent School District for over 30 years. She met and married John E. Davis, Sr. on April 3, 1976. Together they raised their four children; Tamela, Tanya, John Jr., and Joha Davis.
She was actively involved in her community, where she encouraged many youth to stay on the right track. Sharon was a sponsor for the "Young Shades of Ebony" youth social group; coached her daughter's Little Miss Kickball teams; and taught martial Arts to her children and grandchildren. She, herself mastered 3 black belts. While working over the years with special needs children, she taught them lessons on self defense. Sharon was recognized for her outstanding achievements in the community through Caller-Times Newspaper.
Sharon enjoyed traveling on numerous long vacations with family. She had a love and compassion for her family beyond measure. She was a devoted wife, a loving and protective mother a caring sister, and -in-law. She was a special niece, aunt and adored by many. To her grandchildren, who referred to her as "Granny", She was a beautiful blessing! Her love for them was endless. "Shopping had no limits." Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she enjoyed the family gatherings of baking delicious pies, and trimming the tree with the kids and grandchildren.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Floyd; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Wilson; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Floyd. one sister, Vanessa Floyd Winters; In-Laws and one granddaughter Kaelen Lloyd.
Sharon is survived by her husband, John E. Davis; three daughters Tamela, Tanya (Tony), Johna (Jeremy), one son John Davis, Jr. (Paula). Two sisters Brenda Terrell, Linda Rhodes, her brother Marcus Floyd, one aunt, Betty Willis, her uncles Troy Floyd, Clarence Floyd, Willie Floyd, McKinley Floyd, her sisters in-laws, Phyllis, Barbara, Geraldine, Mercedes, Patricia, brother in-laws, Willie Davis, and Earl Davis (Ruby). Eleven grandchildren, Lauren, Kendric, Joy, Eryn, MaLisha, Rakim, Brooke, King-Malik, T.J., Asa, and Laravia. Great grandchildren, Kendric Ewers, Kayla Ewers, Cayden Cooper, James Ross, Journey Ellis.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 5, 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral service will held at St. John Baptist Church 5445 Greenwood Dr. on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
