Robert Ewing Lloyd, 89, passed on September 3 after a brief illness. He was born on November 11, 1925 to Jephew and Gertrude Lloyd. He had 11 siblings who preceded him in death. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Solomon Coles High School. He was a World War II veteran.
After his honorable discharge he attended Huston-Tillson College. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Robert graduated with a B.S. degree in Physical Education. and received the Texas Teachers Certificate (for life) He was well known for his singing. While attending Huston-Tillson he met the love of his life Tenzie Bennett and they entered in marriage on March 17, 1951. To this union four daughters were born. He was a teacher at Sundeen and Cunningham Jr. High where he taught Physical Education and Coached. He had the privilege to mold the minds and physical abilities of many students until his retirement.
To cherish his homegoing; he leaves 3 daughters, 8 granddaughters, 1 grandson, a host of great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Robstown Texas. Interment to follow at Robstown Memorial Park.
