Melba "Lois" Douglas, 85, passed away on August 27, 2015. She was preceded in death by her mother; Beatrice Heard, father; Noah Hall, stepfather; Leroy Heard, her husband; Horace J. Douglas, Sr. and one son; Horace J. Douglas, Jr.
Her greatest love was her children, her answer to that was her love for the Song-You're the Best Thing that ever Happened to me" by Gladys Knight. Melba worked for many years for the Housing Authority for the City of Corpus Christi. After retirement she volunteered for Travelers Inn, AARP-SCSEP for Seniors, and also was a active member of the Neighborhood Watch on her street.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her two daughters; Sheila A. Simmons and her husband Roger, Yvette A. Watson and her husband Robert both of Corpus Christi, sisters, Gail Heard and Bettye Johnson and her husband "Brick" , 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Westhaven Baptist Church, 1902 Cliff Maus. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
