Mattie Lamkin's Obituary
Mattie Harper Lamkin, born May 16, 1919, slept away peacefully on December 25, 2016. A native of Yoakum, TX., "Mama Mattie", as she was affectionately called by her family, made Corpus Christi her home for over 50 years. She worked for and retired as a Cafeteria Manager for the Corpus Christi Independent School District.
Mama Mattie was a member of St. John Baptist Church for over 50 years and was active in various church ministries. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Mama Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, daughter-in-law, 2 grandsons, 4 sisters, 6 brothers and a niece.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her St. John Baptist Church family.
Visitation: Friday, December 30, 2016, 3pm. - 6pm. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, 5026 Old Brownsville Rd. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11 am., St. John Baptist Church, 5445 Greenwood Dr. Interment will follow in Rosehill Memorial Park.
