Lawrence "Hollis" Carson died on August 24, 2016 at the age of 61. He was born on April 22, 1955 to Oscar Leon and Zinnie Logan Carson in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lawrence gave his life to Christ at an early age at St. Paul United Methodist Church. He attended Crossley Elementary School, graduated from Roy Miller High School, class of 1974.
He served in the U.S. Navy, Persian Gulf War, U.SS. Nimitz, and Enterprise. He was a Decorated Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons (4 awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal (with Bronze Star), second Good Conduct Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and participated in Operation Desert Storm.
He was a Micro -Chip Industry Supervisor for over 20 years. Lawrence rekindled with the love of his life since elementary school, Joy Warner, and they married Sept. 11. 2002. He was an avid fisherman, and loved dominoes, and pool tournaments. A connoisseur of bar-b-que; his specialty was brisket. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved working on cars, drag racing, and he "Dress to Impress".
He leaves behind his loving wife, Joy Warner Carson, 2 sons, Lawrence Anthony Carson of Corpus Christi, and Earl Jackson of Austin, TX. 2 granddaughters, Acacia Carson of Corpus Christi, and Natalia Jackson of Maui, HI. Siblings are: Osleona Carson of San Antonio, Pete Hale, Vanessa Hale, Brenda Hale, Evelyn King, and Vikki Douglas all of Austin Texas, and a host of nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. with a Wake Service from 6-7p.m. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 3. 11a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, September 6, 10:00 a.m at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
