Judy Marie Bradford
May 15, 1942 – July 28, 2015
Ms. Judy Marie Bradford, known to friends and family for her thirst of life, passed away Tuesday morning at Doctor's Regional Hospital after a long battle with sickness.Judy's parents, Luvenia Wilson and Willie Bradford Jr., and brother, Rufus Henderson, preceded her in death.
Judy is survived by: her sisters Mary Joyce Bradford of Corpus Christi, LaChristina Brown of Orlando, FL, and twin brother Jerome Bradford of Corpus Christi. Her children include Nelda L. Walker Adams of Austin, Tilmon B. Walker of Laguna Niguel, CA, Nakeeba Abdulmalik of Corpus Christi, and Samine Jernigan of Miami, FL. Judy also had a host of loving grandchildren: Christopher C. Stevens, Nan-nette L. Martinez, and Natalia L. Adams all of Corpus Christi; Shameeka Hendrix of Houston; Sophia Compana of Del Mar, CA; Ethan Maxwell Walker of Santa Monica, CA; Jhazie Abdulmalik of Corpus Christi, and Dakota M. Jones of Miami, FL. Her great-grandchildren include: Brian Stevens, Cameron Stevens, Samiya Stevens, and the late Sarah Martinez- all of Corpus Christi. Her notable cousins include: Milton Bradford Jr. of Corpus Christi, Michael Bradford of Oakland, CA, George "Booth" Smith and George "Bebe" Smith Jr of Houston, and Ceciley Smith of Durham, NC and many more.
Ms. Bradford was a devoted member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist church who attended regularly before multiple strokes presented a setback. Before taking ill, Judy enjoyed fishing and shooting pool whenever she was not away at sea with the Merchant Marines. It was also easy to find her "fixing hair!" One of her greatest talents was the one she cultivated as a beautician. Not to mention, Judy had a great love for cooking and baking. She will always be remembered as "Judy B" to those closest to her- a lady who worked hard and played hard with an infectious laugh! Her life was short, but her memory will be long.
The beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend will be memorialized at 10:00 A.M.on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1913 Mestina St., Corpus Christi, Texas officiated by Pastor Claude Axel.
