Joe William Pitts peacefully passed from this life at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was born on April 30, 1953 and was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Allie Faye Pitts.
He was baptized at an early age at the St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where he was active in Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Children and youth ministries as well as the choir.
Joe attended Booker T Washington Elementary, Clyde Cunningham Junior High and graduated from Foy H Moody High School in 1971.
He furthered his education by attending and graduating from Prairie View College, Hempstead, Texas where he obtained a degree in Business Administration in 1975. Joe chose to return to Corpus Christi where he began working at the Woolworths Department store as a manager and was transferred to San Antonio, Texas for 18 months.
Joe returned to Corpus Christi and began work as a Paraprofessional and Coach at Corpus Christi Independent School district in 1977 where he remined until his retirement in 2008.
Joe could be found working in his yard and would stop to talk to people and/or throw up his hand to wave always with a smile on his face. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories the love of his life Anna, his loving sister Margaret, brother, Gregory Clark (Betty), niece Jessica Brown (Lamont) and nephews Justen Evans(Morgan), Jeremy Tipton (Jessica) and Gregory Clark, Jr. (Nora), great nephew Jaxon Tipton, great nieces Justyce Evans, Senaya Brown, Olivia and Leila Clark, cousins, Felisha Bellinger-Dailey (Reggie), Arrenton Flemmings, Michael Bellinger and a host of other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to Felisha Bellinger-Dailey and Harold and Jackie Marcee who spent hours visiting Joe while he was in the hospital and to others who texted and/or called on a daily basis.
