Horace W. Arkadie, Sr. 80, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away peacefully in his home Friday, June 19,2015 after a long illness. He was born to Albert J. Arkadie, Sr. and Nellie (Denson) Arkadie of Yoakum, TX on August 29, 1934.
Horace enjoyed sports, porch conversations, riding his horses, and taking his family to the country for fun times. Horace was a fellow member of the Western Angels for 15 years. He was employed with CP&L for over 30 years. Horace was a caring person who made friends quickly even if he didn't know of them. He was no stranger to no one.
In 1957, Horace married Ruby Hampton, in Gonzales, TX. To this union they had one daughter, two sons and one God-daughter.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers: Mack, Sr., Clifford (Sadie), Albert (Ida),and Waymon (Joyce) Arkadie. He leaves to cherish his wife of 58 years Ruby Arkadie, sons: Horace Jr. & Whitt Albert Arkadie, of Corpus Christi, TX and Stanley (Wanda), of Portland, Oregon. Daughter, Cynthia (James) Griffin, of Mesquite, TX, God-daughter, Peaches Clacken, of Maryland, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation Services will be held Tuesday, June 23,2015 from 6pm to 8pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on 5026 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78405.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 24,2015 at 1pm at Calvary First Baptist Church on 2906 Carver Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. Burial will proceed after services at Memory Gardens.
