Felmon Ray Barnes Jr.'s Obituary
Ray Barnes, Jr. passed away on January 14, 2015. He was 65. Ray was born on September 14,1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Felmon Barnes, Sr. and Bertha Mae Limuel. He was the oldest of five children. He is preceded in death by one son, Christopher, and his father, Felmon.
Ray's working career consisted of the Corpus Christi Country Club, the United States Air Force, Sears, CCAD, and the Nueces County Sheriff's Department. In his retirement Ray devoted himself full time to the ranch, Baraka Ranch was our pride and joy. Everyone that has ever been there was amazed at what we created.
To cherish his memory, he leaves to mourn his loving wife of 44+ years, Carolyn, two sons, Derrick (Laura) Barnes of Boise, Idaho, and Christopher Barnes of San Diego, California, one daughter, Angela Shanahan of San Diego, California, one grandson, Donovan Ray Barnes of San Diego, California and his special adopted twin and nephew, Shaun Jackson of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Bertha Barnes, brothers, Marvin Barnes of San Antonio, Texas and Ricky Barnes of Corpus Christi, Texas, and sisters, Shirley (Sam) Jackson and Jackie (Harold) Marcee of Corpus Christi, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves to mourn a mother-in-law, Veria Banks of San Diego, California, an aunt, Eria Braxton of Glenhaven, California, Sister, Mary Engrum of Temecula, California, sisters-in-law, Denise Dean, Ramona Banks, and Shannon Banks all of San Diego, California, and Peral (Terry) Love of Pearland, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary First Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
