Ernestine Elaine Kendall Jones was born on June 21, 1938 in Burr, Texas (Wharton County). She was the third child born to William Edward and Jonnie Lee Kendall.
She confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age in Wharton, Texas. Later in life, she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she united with True Faith Baptist Church. She remained a dedicated, faithful member. She was active with the Women's Ministry and served as the church treasurer. She loved to serve the Lord and she loved her church family.
Ernestine graduated from West Oso High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and attended Prairie View A&M University. She later obtained her degree from Del Mar College. She began her career as the Registrar at Del Mar College where she worked for almost 40 years.
Ernestine united in Hole matrimony to Harold Jones, Jr. on September 27, 1959. To that union, one child was born, Cheryl Lynn. She also had one bonus son, Ronnie Earl Jones.
Ernestine had a contagious laugh. She had a big heart and even bigger smile. She was a loving, kind, caring person who possessed an ability to make her family and friends feel welcomed and special. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren whom she loved so deeply.
To live is Christ and to die is gain. The Lord gives and the Lord taketh away. Ernestine Elaine Kendall Jones transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Harold Jones, Jr. She is also proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers; son, Ronnie Jones and daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Mary Lou Bradford of Houston, Texas; four grand children, Damon Jones, Sr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Keanna Jones of Houston, Texas, Kesha Jones of Austin, Texas and Jerrard Jones of Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Damon Jones, Jr., Amiraki Jones, Eugene Magwood, Jaida Jones-Watts, and London Jones-Watts, nieces and nephews, and host of other beloved family and friends.
