Elias Thallasinos Tallas' Obituary
Elias Thallasinos Tallas burst into the world on January 23, 1941 in Hollywood, California to proud Greek parents, Gregory and Esther Tallas. Lee grew up in Hollywood and as a young man he worked at Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. and soon after, joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. After his military service he came home and became a realtor in New York City. He left the hustle and bustle of N.Y. and settled in as a photographer in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
In 1993 he became the Assistant Director of Veteran's Affairs of Berks County. He dedicated his life to helping his fellow vets get the benefits due them. In a few years he was promoted to Director. He was a commander in D.A.V. chapter 10 of Berks county and was president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 131. In 2007 he retired and packed up his boat the "Spartan Warrior" and headed south to the Sparking City by the Sea. He loved taunting his friends up north about sitting here in his shorts while they were freezing. After flipping his boat in the river he decided he needed some help and took some classes that the Coast Guard Auxiliary were offering. He loved it and joined the Berks County Chapter. When he moved to Texas he found a new band of brothers in the Flour Bluff Flotilla 7-11. There was never a dull moment with Lee's tales of conquests and adventures. We expected fireworks and bombs bursting in air with his passing but he passed peacefully and quietly on September 10, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, daughter Erica, brothers George and Alex, and sister Diana and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
