Duke Girtley "Paw Paw" Rogers, 83 received his wings on December 19, 2017. Duke was born on March 18, 1934 in Francisville, Louisiana. He was an only child. In 1952 he joined the US Army in which he honorably served for many years. After his time in the service, Duke moved to Corpus Christi, Tx. and worked as a shrimp fisherman for 15 years. Following his time in the gulf, Duke was a dedicated skycap with the Corpus Christi International Airport up until his time of death. Paw-Paw enjoyed playing the lottery and barbequing and cooking. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife Audrey Rogers.
He is survived by a special granddaughter Nadia Mileah Henry, five daughters, Shelia Jackson, Glenda Jackson of Corpus Christi, Tx., Gloria Jackson of Houston, Tx., Vanessa Jackson of Los Angeles, ca., Karem Veal of San Antonio, Tx. Two sons, Steven Jackson (Jenny), of Houston, Tx. and James Jackson (Sherry Talley Mason) of Atlanta, Ga. 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
