Obituary

Dorothy Mays Woodson of Corpus Christi, Texas was called to be with the Lord on June 20, 2022.

Dorothy retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and worked as supervisor in the Checks Department at 1 st City Bank of Corpus Christi for a number of years. Clifton and Dorothy were proud owners of Woody's Nite Life for decades. Aunt Dot enjoyed dining out with Woody at their favorite restaurant U&I. She loved entertaining, traveling, watching tennis, golf, attending water aerobics and of course shopping. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo and Pokeno. She was a true Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed music and dancing.

Dorothy better known as Aunt Dot, Dottie or Mrs. Woody was a loving, caring and compassionate woman who loved the Lord. She was a role model and always treated people with dignity and respect. She was the epitome of a woman of class, grace, and an eloquent speaker.  She was a true friend and helped anyone she could and would even slip you $20 just because. She was there to listen and offered wise advice. She was a woman of her word and once her decision was made, it was final, there was no room for debate.

Aunt Dot was devoted to her family providing spiritual, emotional, and financial support. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She attended all of our sports events, talent shows, school programs and church events, always there to cheer us on! She was always there to encourage and to motivate you to do your best. She never missed a day without talking to Lo on the phone in mornings and visiting on the porch in the evenings talking. They always attended revivals and social events together.

Aunt Dot was a like a New York run way model with her smile and style for fashion. Dot always coordinated her outfits', hat, handbag, shoes and jewelry whether it was elegant evening wear, dressy-causal, just a warm up suit or even her mink coat. She looked good from head to toe whenever you saw her. Coincidentally all of her grandchildren and great grands inherited this fashionista trait. There are beautiful memories to cherish of good food, laughter, fun, faith and family. Her legacy will live on forever. You were a Blessing and we are Forever Grateful. Take Your Rest in Heaven. Well Done!

She is preceded in death by her parents Spurgeon and Adell Mays, Clifton Woodson (husband), Gladys L. Smith (daughter), Spurgeon Mays, Katherin Crecy, Darryl White, Robin Green and Stephanie O'Guinn, and Shelorian Comfort. Surviving granddaughters:  Sherri Comfort (Steven) of Simi Valley CA, Kathy Price-Ward (Anthony) of Portsmouth, VA. Great grandchildren Kimberly Tanner, Keisha Marshall, Enrae Green, Kiantraea Matthews, Michael Comfort, and Brittany O'Guinn, Zachary and Jordan Ward.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other family and friends. Special great great-granddaughter Ka'Lynn Broadnax and nephew Douglas Crecy.
