On Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021, our heavenly Father called Dorothy Joyce Greathouse to a peaceful rest. She was born June 18, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Johnnie Beatrice Evans.
Dot, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her education in the Corpus Christi Independent School District where she received her high school diploma in the Roy Miller High School class of 1964.
During her years at Roy Miller, her passion and love was singing in the
choir where she excelled. In 1964 Dot married Julius Greathouse and to this union was born a beloved son Kevin. Soon after the birth of Kevin, her husband became a Viet Nam war casualty. Dot returned to school and continued her education at Del Mar College graduating as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Dot accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Harold T. Branch. She served faithfully in the youth choir and in later years, served in the usher ministry. Her working career included LVN at Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital and in hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa and Houston, Tx.
After many years absence, Dot returned to Corpus Christi to care for her ailing mother. Dot and Kevin became active members of Gary's Raider's A Group, a bowling league for those with special needs. This league with it's family environment brought many years of joy to both Kevin and Dot.
Dot is preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie B, husband, Julius, son, Kevin, brothers, Fred Thomas Martin and Herman Lee Evans. Those left to cherish Dot's memory include her brother, Charles Evans (Victoria), niece, Neva Evans, and other family and friends whose lives she touched.
