Cecil Lanzene Williams was born August 20, 1936 in Gonzales, Texas, to Ernest Mason Williams and Roberta Prince. He graduated from Edwards High School in 1954 and afterwards attended Prairie View A&M where he earned a Certificate of Proficiency in the Art of Automobile Mechanics in 1957.After this Cecil joined the Army and served active duty from 1960 to 1962 and reserves from 1962-1965. Cecil began working at Reynolds Metals Company in 1962 and retired after 36 years. He was a member of United Steelworkers Union Local 235 and a Mason for a number of years. He met Wilma Jean Ransom and subsequently married her on October 4, 1963. To this union three children were born: David, Belinda and Tisha. Cecil was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for over 35 years until his health failed. He served as the President of the Usher Board for four years and was a member of United Methodist Men. Cecil was a loner. As a young boy, after he finished his chores he would wander off to be by himself. He loved to help people but especially those who were striving to help themselves. He didn't believe in being "dead weight" nor supporting it. He was all about taking care of business. He loved his children dearly and was a wonderful father and a great role model to them. During his last days on earth, Cecil was very repentant and would cry out to the Lord to forgive him for any sins he had committed. He departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2015 with his daughters at his bedside.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Roberta Williams and his brother, Ernest Shelton Williams.
