Obituary

Carol Faith Gray

Who is she in her own words?

I was born in Victoria, Tx., where I attended Juan Lynn Elementary School. While there, I sang in the choir and played the xylophone. I continued to Victoria Junior High School until 1976. Due to my father being in the Navy, my family moved to Corpus Christi Texas. Yes, I was a so called "military brat". I finished my basic education at Cullen Jr. High School. I received my High School Diploma from Richard King High School where I studied Journalism. In 1978, I worked for Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn and the Sears catalog center. I met a nurse while working for Sears and became inspired to go into the nursing field. In 1979, I worked 3 months as a ward clerk, 3 months as a nurse's aide and by 1980 graduated from Del Mar College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. By 1990, I became a Registered Nurse and continued to serve in the same profession. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 3 years and completed my Master of Science in Nursing Informatics Degree. My hobbies are crocheting, making jewelry, and making flower pens. I also enjoy making designer name tags, playing the piano, surfing the internet, and staying in touch with friends and family through Facebook. As part of my service to God, I have played the piano for several church worship services. I'm currently the music director for Antioch Baptist Church, the same church where my mother went.

I am punctual, precise, dependable and a hard worker. I have five lovely children-3 girls, and 2 boys, who have made me proud with their own achievements. All three of my girls are liberated women. They enlisted into the U.S. Army. Two are still serving our country. The oldest took her training and become a Medical Laboratory Scientist. My sons have also done well. My oldest followed in my footsteps by becoming an RN. My baby boy is continuing his education at Texas State University.
